Barf-O-Rama

So here is a picture of my sweet little Meredith at her Aunt Kim's wedding reception. Isn't she cute??

This is Meredith 24 hours later:

The barf-o-rama began at 4am Sunday morning. Court heard Meredith gagging and jumped up to check on her. At first we though she was just coughing, but then I saw the vomit on her shirt. So, we changed her and cleaned up the mess and then put her in bed between us (she had 3 towels doubled over underneath her). Meredith continued to throw up about every 30 minutes until 7am-ish. She got to the point where she was just dry heaving, she had thrown up so many times. When she hadn't thrown up in an hour, we gave her some pedialyte, and sure enough she threw up again...and again...and again. I would guess that in that first 24 hours she threw up about 15 times. She threw up on Court about 6 of those 15 times. Poor guy...it seemed that she'd wait until daddy took his turn to hold her to spew. Sunday evening after dinner, Meredith's cousin Tucker started throwing up too. Caryn was trying to keep him over a trash can or a box top but he wanted to be snuggled in her arms so, she ended up getting covered in vomit too. I think between the two kids we had to wash every towel in the house twice! Fortunately, Tucker seemed to be feeling better the next day. Meredith, on the other hand, was a different story. She slept through the night on Sunday night without throwing up, so we let her have a bottle because she was so hungry. Unfortunately, she started throwing up again. So we made an appointment with the Dr. Of course, when we took her in, she seemed to be feeling better and was more animated and even babbling a bit. The Dr. said she seemed to be doing okay and not to worry...just to keep her hydrated. We were hopeful she had turned the corner. Oh, no... as soon as we got home from the Dr. She threw up 2 more times and was lethargic again! Dang it...why did she wait until AFTER the Dr, to do that? So, we spent the evening giving her about a half an ounce of Pedialyte every 5 minutes. She managed to keep most of it down and even perked up a bit. We put her to bed at her usual time and she slept through the night. When she woke up this morning she was so hungry she was beside herself. I poured 4 oz of Pedialyte into a bottle and she attacked it. Court could not pry the bottle from her hands! It was so sad to see my baby so desperately hungry. Once we finally got the bottle away from her we waited with baited breath to see what would happen. She seemed ok but was still trying to get at the bottle. So I filled it up again and by the time I got back to her room, she had thrown up on Court - again! She threw up one more time this morning, but has since managed to keep everything down. Of course, now she has diarrhea and is still a bit lethargic. So...we'll just keep a supply of Pedialyte on hand and hope for the best. Sadly, my mother-in-law came home from work after only an hour...she threw up at work. I hope she fairs better than Meredith did! Sorry Mom! Didn't mean to get you sick! ;(

Taking the "Plunge"

Congrats to my sister-in-law Kimberly and her new hubby Adam! They were married on Saturday, March 8th in the Houston Temple. It was a beautiful day! Of course, it was not without some drama too! While driving back home from Houston, something fell off the back of a semi, and Kim and Adam ran over it. It flattened both tires on the passenger side! Poor Adam had to change both tires in his suit! Needless to say...the suit didn't survive the ordeal. Good thing we took lots of pictures at the temple. If that weren't enough, my mother-in-law got side swiped while she was driving home from Houston! She was lucky, though, because people from the other two cars were taken away in ambulances. Just a few seconds difference could have meant that the reception would have been held at the hospital! Gratefully, she escaped with no injuries and her car was still drivable, so while she lost 2 hours of prep time for the reception, she did make it home in one piece and still managed to pull off a most beautiful reception. Car issues aside...it was a good day. Here's some of my favorite photos:

Vomit Comet

Ugh... Last night I put Meredith in her bed and sat down at my computer to check my email. Meredith fussed a bit, which she normally does, and I kept telling her "You're okay. You need to go to sleep." Suddenly I heard a strange coughing noise, so I jumped up and went to her bed and was greeted with this big, huge vomit-covered smile! Meredith had vomited all over herself and her bed and and it was running down the side of her crib onto the floor! Oh, so gross! Yet she had a huge grin on her face. So I called to Court to come help me and set about cleaning up. I've not seen so much vomit. She was covered head to toe, so Court gave her a bath while I started removing her sheet, crib bumper, bed skirt, blankets...everything. My mother-in-law came in the room and saw the vomit and started helping me clean it from the floor. After about 20 minutes we had it mostly cleaned up and all the vomit covered pajamas, blankets, etc in the wash. I filled a bottle with a little bit of water and gave Meredith 2 or 3 sips to rinse the vomit smell out of her mouth. A few moments later, she threw up again! Fortunately I was standing in the hall way where there is laminate flooring, so I just leaned forward and let her throw up on the floor. We cleaned that up, changed her jammies again and I made the mistake of laying her in my bed for a moment while I put some towels in her travel crib. Just as I finished, Meredith threw up again...in my bed! Ugh! What an ordeal...so, while my sister-in-law held Meredith in the hallway in case she had to throw up again, I stripped our bed and put clean sheets back on it. Poor Meredith. She never had a fever or anything, so I guess something just upset her tummy. We gave her some pedialyte this morning and she has kept it down and seems to be her normal happy self. So, we'll take it easy today and hopefully there won't be any more vomit! Ugh! What a crazy week! So here's what her bedroom looks like right now...I get to spend this morning putting it all back together.

Do the Penguin Dance!

Meredith loves to watch these two penguins playing a dueling bajos version of "Jingle Bells". Sorry the video quality is not that great...if I set my camera to a better quality, the file is too big to post on here. I've got to figure out how to edit videos so they will fit. If anyone knows how, let me know!! ;)

The Great Flood of 2008!

So on Monday I was doing laundry. I was on my 3rd load...started up the washing machine and then headed off to fold the other two loads and tend to Meredith. Several minutes later, I went to throw something away, and discovered that there was 2 inches of water from the laundry room all the way through the breeze way and almost into the kitchen! That's a lot of water!! I had to wade through the ankle deep water to get to the washing machine. Apparently, the sensor that tells the washing machine that it's full of water went out, so it just kept trying to fill with water. I turned the washing machine off and frantically tried to call Court who was down the street working on a neighbor's computer. After about 20 calls to Court that went unanswered, I called Kimberly and had her bring over the shop vac we had left at her new place. Court finally came home and we set to work trying to suck up all the water. Our little shop vac only held 2 gallons of water. So, it was filling up every 13 seconds. We finally called Court's mom who was at the mall, and had her go to Sears and get the biggest, baddest shop vac she could find. She came home with a 16 gallon vac, which we filled up 2 and a half times with water! If I had to guess, I'd say in all we sucked up a good 75 gallons or so of water! I felt so badly...of course this would happen when I'M doing laundry! In the end, we got it all cleaned up and brought in the washing machine Court and I brought with us from Utah for everyone to use until we could get the broken one fixed. Yesterday I washed and folded 4 full loads of towels! I'm just glad there was no major damage! Here's a few pictures of the clean up:

When we started, the water was up to Court's ankles...we'd already sucked up about a dozen or so gallons of water before I thought to take pictures:

The water went all the way back to those shelves you see behind Court!
There was A LOT of water!

Randomness

Here's some fun random photos of Meredith:

One Cool Cat!:

We recently went to visit Court's sister Caryn and her family. Tucker was eating an apple and Meredith kept trying to get it. She was so enthralled with his apple, we finally gave her one for herself. She sucked and gnawed at it. She's cutting her two bottom front teeth, so she always wants to chew on everything.

Whenever she's riding in the car, Meredith likes to hold on to the feet of her Monkey. Sometimes she even tries to eat his feet. But it's so cute to look back at her and she'll be looking around or even fast asleep clutching that monkey's feet.

I gave Meredith a biter biscuit to gnaw on. She loved it. Of course, it made a huge mess too!

Bubbles Bubbles Everywhere!

Meredith had her first bubble bath tonight. She loved it! This is the first time she actually DIDN'T want to get out of the bath. She tried to eat the bubbles and throw the bubbles...we had a hoot watching her.

It's Meredith the Sailor Girl!!!

This sailor dress was worn by all three of Meredith's Fruge aunts when they were Meredith's age. And there are pictures of each of them in it. So, we wanted Meredith to have some pictures in "The Dress" too...

Fun with the Fruges

I know it's been a while since I've posted some pictures of Meredith. I've been sick, busy, somewhat unmotivated...the excuses could go on and on! So, I'll spare the sob stories and just post a few pictures...

Meredith said goodbye to her Bumbo Chair. We had a lot of fun times and fun pictures with that chair...but Meredith keeps growing and the chair has become uncomfortable for her. The last three times she has been in it, she got red faced and cried her "I'm hurting" cry and then threw up. I think it just binds her tummy or something. So, anyway, we put the Bumbo chair away and started using the high chair. Fortunately, she loves the high chair.

Meredith loves to snuggle with her Awna D (Grandma Fruge).

She also loves to play with her cousins...Justin and Caryn were out of town and Sarah and Kevin were sick, so all the grandkids came and spent a weekend at Geezer and Awna D's house.

Meredith's been fighting a cold. She's had a runny nose for the last week, which has allowed her to become very skilled at blowing some gnarly snot bubbles! So gross!
